Problems Meditating ? Empty Problems Meditating ?

Post by Silver Black Wed Jun 19, 2019 5:24 pm

I have a lot of problems meditating, as long as many people on this planet. Too much energy, too much toughts, anxiety, not enough time, overthinknig...etc it's hard to fix objectives and be good as something you're just not built for. But don't worry ! you are not alone. I suck at meditation too, strangely but there are some tips that helped me. First, I discovered that meditating while i'm tired or trying to do it in the bed while tired is just not working for me. I fall asleep so I do it during the day ! Also, know that there are many ways of meditating and anything that relaxes and makes you feel good is too.

Name it all : Drawing, writting, physical exercise, yoga, watching tv etc, everything can be a meditation method for you. you just need to find which one's better for you.

For the traditional meditation style tho, there are still people who wanna success at it and I understand so here's an article and videos I found that might just help you with this.

9 Meditation Tips If You Suck at Meditating
For a long time I thought I wasn’t cut out for meditation. Sitting still and quieting your mind sounds simple enough but I always found myself getting lost in my thoughts, thinking about everything from ex-bosses to what I was going to make for dinner that night. Some meditation attempts were cut short with me falling asleep. (Not necessarily a bad thing but also not the point of meditating.) I desperately wanted to meditate but sitting for even more than five minutes with an empty mind just didn’t seem like something attainable for me.
It seems simple but meditation doesn’t always come naturally. It’s actually pretty freakin’ hard. We live in a society where people can’t ride an elevator without fidgeting with something, so intentionally doing nothing isn’t an easy feat.
Meditation is a skill, something you have to practice and train your mind to do while finding the techniques that work for you. What’s important to remember is that meditation can take different forms so there’s no right or wrong way to meditate. The end goal, however you get there, is to achieve mental clarity and a calm state of mind.
Here are 9 tips to help you meditate:
1. Set the mood
Turn off your phone, remove distractions, and get yourself into a place of relaxation. I like lighting incense or putting essential oils on my pressure points. If I feel like music I’ll turn on an acoustic playlist or buddhist chanting. Sometimes I give myself a shoulder and neck massage if I’m feeling particularly tense. Wanna meditate while taking a bath? Go for it. Get to that place that makes you feel most relaxed.

2. Find a comfortable posture
Some people lay down to meditate. It’s the most comfortable position but puts me right to sleep so I prefer to sit on a chair or crosslegged on a pillow. You can also sit against a wall for extra back support. There is a stillness to meditation but honestly, mix it up however you want. Feel free to move between sitting, lying down, or even standing at any point while you meditate. It’s easier to focus inward if you’re not distracted by an achy back.

3. Practice mindfulness
If the idea of clearing your mind of all thoughts sounds close to impossible, become mindful of the thoughts and sensations that pass through instead. Instead of forcing yourself to tune out these distractions, observe them as they’re happening, then bring your mind back to the present. It’s a gentler way to practice staying focused when you can acknowledge that hey, thoughts happen.

4. Light a candle and watch it
There’s something about candles that I find really soothing, like it completely sets the mood. The calming effect of a candle is great for meditation purposes—just sit, focus on the flame, and notice its subtle movements.

5. Sync your breathing with a visual tool
Find 10 minutes out of your day, like in the morning before you get out of bed, and just breathe to this video. Follow the breathing shape by inhaling when the shape expands and exhaling when the shape contracts.

6. Try guided meditation
Guided meditation is great if you prefer having someone lead you through your meditation, guiding you on what you should be focusing on, and to help with visualization. There are local meditation classes you can check out, or find guided meditations on YouTube or apps like Headspace.

7. Listen to music
Listening to songs that provoke pleasant or relaxing feelings can be a meditation in itself. Dim the lights or turn them off completely so you only have your hearing senses. Try not to do anything else at the same time, focusing your attention solely on the music.

8. Practice moving meditation
For my fellow restless souls: you can meditate with movement! Walking, yoga, and tai chi are common techniques. My favourite moving meditation is dance using slow, tai chi-like movements to downtempo music. The idea is that your movements are deliberate and feel natural to you (meditation shouldn’t ever feel forced). Be aware of how your body moves. Incorporate breath by moving with the flow of your inhales and exhales.

9. Go easy on yourself
Meditation takes practice so go easy on yourself. Start slow. Try two minutes at first and build on as you progress your practice.
