In short, the answer is yes. 

During the Halloween season, humans collectively set the intention to call forward the Spirit World. People all over the world are in want for a connection to Spirit. 

During this time of year, in particular, there are over 13 holidays and cultural festivals celebrating, thousands of people intending and wanting the same thing: an interaction, an understanding, or a connection to the spirit world. 

When we send all this energy out there, the collective energy of intention then acts as a strong magnet, and it calls it in. The more people added to the magnet, the stronger the pull on whatever it is we are trying to draw in. 

This means that yes, the veil or the natural layer of separation between the physical world and the spiritual world is indeed to us closer during the time leading up to Halloween or any other collection of Spirit related festivities, primarily due to collective attraction, given the number of holidays celebrating the dead around this time - over 13 worldwide! 

Though there are other times and periods when the veil can be thin, Halloween, in particular, is when we as practitioners have to be careful.

In the United States in particular, around this time, virtually no discrimination is given as towhat type of Spirit from the Spirit world it is we are calling forward. 

In some cultures and areas, people are celebrating all types of ghosts, no discrimination, which can draw in all types of energy, as you may already know. 

So, pay attention to what you're inviting in. 

If you're playing up the spook factor in your celebrations, it’s possible that these are the very Spirits you are inviting in.

Alternatively, if you are playing up the invitation for playful, light-hearted Spirits, it is more likely these are the Spirits who are being welcome in.

For other Spirit related Holidays worldwide, there are precautions taken that assure that only the most positive and loving spirits are those that come forward during this thin veil time.

 Here's how to make the most out of Halloween:

[*]Find out if there is anything you can do to repel other types of Spirits.
[*]And if you don't like crowds, don't go to the mall. Meaning, lay low if the energy bothers you during this time and know what your triggers are. Increasing your grounding and clearing meditations can help with anxiety that may increase in some psychics around this time, and avoid places where low energy type spirits may hang out. If you do go on a ghost tour, try a historical themed one, rather than a horror themed one, for example.

The good thing to know is the thin veil period tends to last only seasonally, generally spanning from around October 8th to November 11th of each year.
